How many boxes do you Need to Move when Moving homes

You may wonder how many boxes you’re going to need to move during moving day. This can be hard for people to really understand and pinpoint but luckily we have the guide for moving boxes, and what they offer.

The Different Box Types

Remember whenever you’re trying to lift boxes and they give out?  That stinks, and heavy duty lifting boxes fix that. they’re much better and studier than other types of boxes. Some people may even put their entire weight set inside there holding up just fine. Heavy duty boxes are good for the following:

  • Appliances
  • Fragile items that require more protection
  • Electronics

The other type of box you may use is a book box, since they may seem nice and light until you pack them. Book boxes are a lifesaver, used to handle one’s weight without being super bulky.

You don’t want to overstuff them! But here’s a good guide for packing them:

  • Sort by weight and size.
  • Put the heavier books flat down
  • Fill the gaps that are there with the paperback items
  • Label the content and room for the box

Then we have the 18x18x18 moving box, which is the most versatile of boxes. They’re good for everything from toys, some kitchenware, and shoes as well.

Here’s what you can fit inside these:

  • Dolls and toys, including action figures
  • Kitchenware, including pans, pots, and some Tupperware too
  • Clothing, such as shirts, pants, and even shoes
  • Other extra stuff, such as craft items, office supplies and a lot more

You also have extra-large boxes for moving, which are basically the big awkward items best friend.  You can put the bulk items in there with no problem. What else can you throw in there though?

Some of the items include:

  • Bedding, such as comforters, pillows, and even blankets
  • Large toys such a doll houses or those cars kids love to ride
  • Bulky jackets and boots.
  • Home décor, including lamps and wall out

Overall, the right box for every single item does matter, and you’ll want to consider all of these whenever you pack.  Remember, it’s better to have more boxes than not enough of these boxes.  If you buy these in bulk, it saves you money too!

Estimating Boxes

Now, how many boxes do you move? This ultimately depends on the following factors:

  • The house size, since larger houses have bigger stuff. This includes attics, storage spaces, and even your basement
  • How many people are in the home? Kids come with way more stuff
  • Lifestyles, whether you’re a minimalist, or have collections all over the place
  • Types of items that you’ll be moving, such as libraries, which may require more boxes in order to move them

In general, here’s how many boxes you’ll be moving:

  • Studio: 10-20 boxes, as they’re minimal and have fewer personal items
  • 1 bedroom, 20-40, as there’s more furniture, items, and some décor
  • 2 bedroom, 40-60, and more rooms mean much more furniture, personal items, and décor
  • Over three bedrooms, 60+.  Larger families with tons of items will definitely need some more boxes for all of their items.

When moving, always make sure that you have more, especially if you don’t want to run out of space mid-packing.  Bulk boxes do save some money.

Finally, always consider the specialty boxes, such as heavy duty items, for the fragile stuff, and also for appliances too.

Again, this is an estimation, so look at your house and see what’s needed.
